Anne Labes (neé O'Brien) was raised in Marietta, Ohio and graduated from Marietta High School. Growing up, she was involved in music, theatre, sports, and 4H. She attended the University of Pittsburgh where she earned a B.S. in linguistics summa cum laude and subsequently a law degree. While in law school, she was assistant editor to the Pittsburgh Journal of Environmental and Public Health Law and a teaching assistant, while working on the Ice Crew for the Pittsburgh Penguins. She was part of the first team at Pitt Law to advance to the semi-finals in the Paris ICC International Commercial Arbitration Competition, where teams briefed and argued in French. She graduated cum laude from Pitt Law in 2016 and was admitted to practice law in West Virginia in 2016 and Ohio in 2020. She focuses her law practice on civil litigation and civil rights. Together with her husband, she operates a Mediterranean restaurant and bakery in Marietta. She has appeared in independent films and released original music. She co-founded a nonprofit organization that supports community development in the MOV, and helped organize the MOV Independent GROWTH Teacher Appreciation Event and Marietta's first Pride event. Together with her business, she supports the teacher appreciation event, Marietta Pride, the Fraternal Order of Police's annual toy drive, and organized a fundraiser for PPE for Ukrainian Defense Forces.
